It was very easy to set up. It does take a total of five AAA batteries that are not included. After adding the batteries, all you have to do is set your time set a channel and you are all set to go. The smaller device goes outside so that the larger display in the home tells you what is going on inside and out. I love that I don't have to go out and be surprised by the humidity, this lets you know it all.
