Flakes of black vinyl all over everything. I put them away and then one day thought, "There has to be a solution!" These are that solution. I can't vouch for the longevity as I've just installed them, but they fit well, and snap together firmly. Getting the old headband pad off takes a scissors, so be careful of the cord that runs through the headband itself. This cover snaps apart, then snaps together over the headband. The only fiddly bit is to get the endcaps situated so they secure the pad well...there is a notch for the screws to reinstall the endcaps, and once you sort that out they go in easily with the included screwdriver. The screwdrive is even magnetized to make it easier to drop the screws right in and drive them home. All in all a good replacement.
