I purchased them for use with a cargo van I am converting into a camper. The box they came in was heavily damaged, but the stair parts were in excellent condition. It took a moment to figure out that the bottom step was a little different than the top step, which has two slots on each end to fit over the support bars. The bottom step has only one slot on each end at the front edge. Also, the instructions said to install the protective caps, which I couldn't find, then realized they were already installed. Once I got the steps together, I found them to be very sturdy and stable. When used properly, I don't expect any issues with the handrail not holding. It is not meant to be leaned on, only as an assist in going up and down. The steps are lightweight, so I had no problem carrying them out to the van after I put them together and I have no problem lifting them in and out of the van for travel. I love the wide step treads! While I am a handy grandma, I do have some knee issues and the nice, wide treads allow me to walk straight up and down, rather than having to side-step and my entire foot can be firmly planted, so no worries about slipping off, especially when going down the steps.
