The atmosphere is absolutely lovely, blending historical fiction with a gentle touch of magical realism. Opaline’s chapters completely stole the show for me, she is a fierce, unforgettable character, and I found myself racing through the pages just to see what happened to her next. The way the author slowly weaves the modern and historical mysteries together is incredibly satisfying.
