I have read in a few places that high humidity is not ideal but decided it was worth finding out for myself **Q: Could this be used as a firepit? Would it be durable enough?** A: I unthinkable it could, but just know that it has no bottom. It would have to have gravel or something for the bottom. We installed a variety of the cortex steel planters including the rectangle planters, bench planters, a small square planter and this one. The result is clean and modern and the patina is already well along, with the wet Seattle weather.This square planter doesn't have a bottom, but the larger rectangle ones do.The pros of these Nice Planter boxes are:- they were a fraction of the price of a custom installation- the variety of sizes worked well together- we can move them or take them with us when we move- they are easy to maintainThe cons are:- according to our designer the metal is thinner than they are used to.
