I’ve found them to be very durable. When it’s hot, I’ll typically soak one in a tub of cold water in the refrigerator before I go out for a hike and it helps very well with evaporative cooling. Mine are essentially odor free except for one time, which was my screwup. I accidentally left one wet at my cabin and didn’t have a chance to get back up there for about a month so when I retrieved it, it was pretty musty but a quick toss in the washer fixed that and there’s no residual odor.
