Best Wishes Marvin A-wonderful **Q: How about if the controller is 30 to 60 feet away from the turbine 10 gauge enough wire** A: For 12V batteries: 400W AT 12V = 33.3 Amps. #10AWG wire is about 0.001 Ohm/foot. 30 feet away = 60 foot round trip wire length for + and - battery wires. 33.3 Amps through 0.06 Ohms will lose about 67W in the wire. Doubling the length to 60 feet will double that power loss to 134W. So you're wasting 17% of the power being generated at 30 feet and 34% of the power at 60 feet. That's why you want to keep the battery wires as short as possible. Increasing wire diameter would help but is usually harder (and more expensive!) than shortening wires.
