We didn't build this into an actual frame like they suggested. We built it into a closet. It worked great. The instructions have the kickboard sitting in front of the face of the bed. The kickboard helps support the back of the bed when it's down but the face of the bed rubs on the kickboard wherever you sleep, from the extra weight, and I slept in the middle so it took my paint off in a very small spot. We ended up adding a few pcs of decorative trim in hopes to help stabilize the bed better when it's down and it definitely helped. Over all this is a great kit and the pistons work great. I like that they sent the legs with a hole in the side to add a threaded rod or piece of wood in between so the legs can be pulled down in one shot instead of having to pull each leg separately. I would recommend this kit.
