## Description

Review: Mullet, minnows, racoons, best friends, it catches everything - Bought the BasicGear Cast Net thinking we were just going to do some casual fishing with Jimmy and Randy. Three foot, twelve foot radius, 3/8 mesh seemed straightforward. Ha. We had no idea. First off, before we even got to the lake, a raccoon somehow got into the attic of Jimmy’s trailer. Naturally, chaos ensued. So we improvised. Out came the cast net. Let me tell you, there is nothing quite like trying to catch a raccoon in the trailer park with a cast net while your neighbors are cheering you on. That raccoon is now officially retired from the attic life. Next, Randy tried his own version of “net skipping” while trying to impress someone on bail. Somehow he managed to fling the net perfectly, and yes, he caught him too. Total trailer park justice. Meanwhile, the original fishing plan? Totally successful once we got to the lake. The net is incredibly sturdy, easy to throw, and collapses back for storage without looking like a tangled mess. Caught fish, critters, and improbable human targets without a hitch. Pros: epic versatility, catches everything from bass to raccoons, built like a tank. Cons: You might end up needing a second net if you have friends like Randy and Jimmy. 10/10 would recommend. If you want ordinary fishing, get a pole. If you want legendary trailer park adventures, get this cast net.
Review: Great net - This has been a great net for my teenagers.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do I choose the right cast net size, weight, and mesh?**
A: Use 3–6ft nets for beginners, 8–12ft for pros. 1/4” mesh targets small bait; 3/8” works for most. Heavier weights (1.0+ lb/ft) sink faster, but even our 0.75lb/ft sink faster than competitors with our custom monofilament line.

**Q: What kind of water can I use the nets? Salt or freshwater?**
A: All nets work in both, but rinse with clean water after use. Zinc Iron weights are rust-resistant for several months only and better suited for freshwater; Lead and PVC Protected weights are rustproof and ideal for all environments with proper care.

**Q: What’s the difference between BasicGear and BasicGear Pancake series cast nets?**
A: Our standard nets are for novice to average level users, using zinc iron, lead and PVC protected weights. Our Pancake series cast nets are commercial-grade, offering lead and PVC protected weights and even more premium materials and construction.

**Q: Do BasicGear nets and traps come ready to use?**
A: Yes, all BasicGear cast nets, seine nets, and crab traps come pre-rigged or pre-assembled. Just unfold, secure the lines, and start fishing—no extra setup needed. For our seine nets, only the net is included, you'll need your own holding poles.

**Q: Are the nets and traps easy to store and carry?**
A: Yes, our nets and traps are designed to be lightweight, foldable, or collapsible for quick transport. Ideal for fishing trips, boat storage, or tossing in your gear bag or the included bucket.
