    Beautiful Tatami Flooring

As a half Japanese person living in the US, I have deeply missed the sight, smell, feeling of tatami flooring. So when we purchased our home, I was excited to finally invest in proper tatami mats that would evoke traditional Japanese homes and ryokan. I love everything about these tatami and highly recommend them!

I'm a Japanese and I know the real Tatami, the Tatami Igusa Mattress is very comfortable with good smell.Easy to handle and good for US house. Maybe I will re-order it again near future to make "Japanese room".

    beautiful material and scent but not holding up after only a year

These mats are truly beautiful, at first have a very earthy smell that invites a kind of escape. However, after a year of mild use (no shoes, two adults in one apartment), I am sad to say that they have began to fray at the edges, rendering them not so useful without an ugly intervention like duck tape or something. Once the grasses are loose, they start to unweave and break off, getting tracked all over the house. I'm not sure if we simply received a few defective mats or if this is the general quality of them, but I don't think I would buy again outside of for an area that no one walks over.
