Yes, Labs are "special". We each have our own special personality. We don't herd sheep like the border collie and let's face it, we make really, really poor guard dogs. We are just too darn friendly. But we all have something special to bring to the table and Mr. Katz understands that and shows the uniqueness of the Lab in this book. For that, I say "Thank you, Mr. Katz"We have given this book away many times to the kids in our reading program and they always point to Lenore and say, "She is just like Roxy." Like Lenore, I too have something to offer. There is nothing better than sitting with a Kindergartner and reading a book. During this time, I have collected many children's books that I use in my therapy work. Last week, I read my newest acquisition, The Dogs of Bedlam Farm, to a group of kids, ages 9-17, in a lock-down facility. I never know how a book is going to go over the first time and each group of kids is different. They were all very attentive and quiet, and I think they liked that two of the dogs looked like my Aussie. I was, however, shocked when they all applauded when I finished.
