I wasn't convinced that the PopGrip would be firm enough using "just" MagSafe, but I was really impressed - it's solid as a rock and I have zero fear that it's going to come off in use. It takes some real effort to pry it off - you have to really your nails under it to make it budge. Not something that's going to happen in normal usage! It does stand out a little from the back of the base but not to a degree that bothers me; pockets long enough to hold a Pro Max always have enough width too, and it's rounded so doesn't catch on the way out. I'm definitely going to keep hold of this and transfer it to all my new phones in the future. However the magnet is so strong that I struggled to remove it from the kindle (which was attached with the adhesive magnetic strip) and the strip itself bent.
