You'll need to bend the end and pull off the top layer. Do sections at a time. I put it along the back part underneath the shelf and started left to right. The corners won't fit just right so you may see the white part. You could put it on the side instead of underneath and that might work. It sticks pretty good. The electric cord is about 5-6 feet long. The only thing it didn't have was something to cover up the silver screws on the end. I think these connectors should have been black. The front of the drawers are soft like leather material. Very nice. Don't over stuff drawers because it will take a toll on your drawer handles. It's cardboard material in the front so you'll need to be gentle. My son really likes this and it was a good value for a dresser.
