## Description

Your order will include enough hardware to retrofit 5 recessed downlight fixtures. Recessed lighting clips should be installed at the right height for your can to be properly seated. If your can assembly didn’t have any screw holes, an awl can be used to insert a small hole on opposite sides of the can then use the screws included to mount the clip. And if need be the clip can be installed with a screw hole inserted at the bottom of the clip. These clips can be used for recessed led lights that come with the v spring clips (torsion spring). Use the screws included to install the clips at the right height of your fixture. Otherwise the led light will not be properly seated. The screws needed for installation are included. To make installation more convenient and speedy, a right angle drill attachment should be used, but not essential.

**Q: I have an old can with clips that hold it in place by siding down the cross-shaped slot to wedge it against the horizontal drywall. Will this work?**
A: From your description, I assume your can light is the type used in remodel construction: installed in existing drywall by cutting the right sized hole and using the spring clips in the slots to secure it to the drywall.  This product should work if you have enough surface area on the side of the can between these slots to install them.  I purchased them and installed them on a 6" remodel can myself.  I suggest using screws to permanently fasten the C-clips to the sides of the can as in my case, they didn't stay in place well enough without the screws.  You may want to pre-drill holes for the screws instead of trying to use self drilling sheet metal screws to get through the sidewall of the can.

**Q: How far up from the can lip do you install these clips?**
A: Great question thank you for asking. If your housing wall doesn't have a folded edge these clips can slide right into the wall. With a folded lip the c clips should be installed so that the brackets or "ears" are about 1"-2" from the edge and just above the spring on the light assembly. We hope this helps!

This review is for 'Premium Recessed Light Retrofit C-Clips for Downlight'. I am a DIY homeowner and received no compensation for this review. I had previously purchased/used the cheaper C-clips from Amazon and for me, it was very hard to install the screw. Maybe my cans are extra tough. but I used a punch (didn't even dent it), a 90 degree drill attachment, new drill bit, cordless driver. It was an awkward angle, and just had an awful hard time getting the screw in. These premium clips that don't need a screw are so much better!I had to move them around the perimeter of the can to find a good spot, but it only took a minute and they work great, definitely worth the extra cost over the cheap screw required version.

I've had a long-standing problem with cheap can lights; whenever an LED needs to be replaced, one of the factory clips always seems to break. Then it's a harrowing session of trying to tap a screw and use some of the other replacements. These slide on and clip into place. They can then be supported with a screw, but I haven't found this necessary as the LED lights are lightweight. I love these things so much, but I bought an extra set just in case they sell out.

These work fine but are notably thin compared to other brands I’ve used. In fact so thin then cut into your fingers trying to push on. Had to end up using something other than a finger/thumb to slide on. Thumbs still hurt wiring this review. So far they haven’t fallen.
