I gave it three tries, and each time the handle would not turn. One time I was able to keep using it to pierce the can, over and over around in a circle until I got the lid separated enough from the body of the can so that I could pour out the beans. This method required a lot of effort and a good deal of time.The other times I tried the can opener, however, I gave up and had to throw out the cans, because now the lids were pierced but I could not open them.I don't know if it is a flaw in the design or a flaw in the manufacture of my specific item, but either way it was a disaster. However, over the last year it has been difficult to open a can in a fluid motion, it would get stuck and I really had to cajole it around and sometimes macgyver the can all the way open. Well finally, it just completely stopped working, 1 year 10 months old it’s done. I was hoping to get a few more years out of a sturdy can opener.
