As opposed to other customer feedback, I found that the clamp was tight enough to holdthe hair whilst in use. Different heat levels to choose from, though I find 120 degrees works best for me (no smoke). The only issue is they get hotter than the sun! Even if you catch a tiny bit of your finger on them it hurts like hell all day. Not great if your letting your kids do their own hair.
