First, I have a Whynter compressor model ice cream maker so I do not have to chill any containers. The first time Imade this, I used 1 cup mix with 4 cups of heavy cream. The ice cream churned up to be very thick and kind of chewy. So, the next time I made it, I used 1 cup mix and 4 cups whole milk, but the texture was more like ice milk. This time, I used 1 cup mix with 2 cups whole milk and 2 cups heavy cream; and the fourth time I used 1 cup mix to 4 cups of half and half. The third time was the charm, so I recommend 1 cup mix to 2 cups heavy cream and 2 cups whole milk because it is the right consistency and texture. It took 50 minutes to freeze in my Whynter. Also, I put about a teaspoon of homemade vanilla in so it would kick up the vanilla flavor. The ratio of 1 cup mix to 4 cups liquid is just right to fit my ice cream maker’s pail without spilling over the top. It’s very easy to make ice cream with this mix. I like to eat it with a few amarena cherries and their syrup on top. It’s not overly sweet and tastes good. Take the amount of the package and the mix amount and calculate the small portion size. EX: I have a 6lb bag which is 96 oz. It makes 8 quarts. 96 oz/8 qts = 12 oz/qt = approx 24 tablespoons or 1 1/2 cups. Adjust flavor from there. I use milk instead of water for a creamier taste. Also, if you put fruit in the blender, add an approx. amount of frostline and milk it makes a great ice cream - strawberries and blueberries are wonderful and sugars are not needed with this mix. Coffee creamers and drink mixers also add a nice flavor. I suggest crushing oreos in a bag to add just before serving. Good luck, just calculate down to the amount you will need and adjust for flavor. **Q: Can the powdered mix be put right into a blender with liquids and other add-ins and ice and made into a smoothie?** A: I don't see why not. Its 1 cup powder 3 cup liquid ratio..i tried 1 cup powder and 3 cup whole milk, and ive tried 1 cup powder 1 cup heavy cream and 2 cup milk which made it it thicker and smoother.
