Buck the dog has not had an easy life; stolen from his original kindly owners in California, he is mistreated and beaten before being sold to French Canadian guide Perrault (Luc Morrissette). Taken to Yukon, Buck finds a place in Perrault's dog team, delivering messages to Dawson City. Some scenes of cruelty though which had me quite upset but it really is a great little movie. Rutger really was a great actor and his loss is devastating for all his fans. Although both quite old to younger generations both should be read and watched to see how both medium can make a classic. The book is one for every generation to return to. I first read this forty years ago and have watched the film over again.
