They are thick in a good quality way but not too thick that they make their cleats tight. My son loves the scrunch look and they cover his whole calf. But... that's not how these socks work and that wouldn't be as cool. With that being said , it is very easy to achieve the scrunched look, and only took a couple of minutes. I thought these socks were WAY too long, but they actually look really sharp once scrunched. My son wears a men's size 10/10.5. I ordered the Medium (sock says "S/M") and they fit perfectly. My son likes the way the look, and more importantly he says they are comfortable!
