A few days after a cook, place it in a plastic bag, twist shut and shake. Then remove from bag and place back inside cooker. Honestly, Green Eggs should all ship with this product included.Significantly improved air flow means coals light faster and burn more efficiently. I don’t have to wait nearly as long for the Egg to come up to temperature and the smoke to clean up.An additional benefit is better circulation of ash. It drops down to the bottom when the coals are out, and you want to separate reusable charcoal. Just give the basket a shake to get rid of ashes and charcoal “crumbs”.I haven’t had the basket long enough to see how it stands up to repeated high-temperature use. If I find that it rusts out and needs to be replaced in a few months, I will have to emend my remarks.
