My brother does it. He made his own unit out of a microwave. I was reading about how to make your own unit and the dangers involved and decided to purchase one instead. This unit works very well on the small projects I do. It is very easy to get good results. As with anything using electrical current it's extremely important to follow safety procedures. Following very strict safety rules using this unit is still very easy. The only thing I've added is secondary clamps to hold the clamps provided so positioning the electrode rods is more secure. I've used this unit only few times and I sure hope it lasts, as I like this unit a lot.
