To prevent cat/dog from getting out under?** A: No, this screen is open at the bottom and sides for easy exit, secured with Velcro tabs on sides. Bottom is weighted so curtain hangs straight but would not prevent cat or dog from exiting or entering. **Q: If i have to trim the width, then won't i be cutting off the velcro on the sides? same with the bottom, won't the weighted bottom have to be cut off?** A: If you start trimming you are going to have do something to reinforce the sides and bottom and reattach weights. Once you start altering the screen you will be getting into a lot more work to maintain the integrity of the product. I would search to see if you can find a product that is more adaptable to your needs. **Q: does the door slide or does it roll up** A: It does neither of those, it has a flap on the side that you pull it open with. The screen is secured on the top of the doorway from side to side of door frame with a tension rod that the screen is secured on.
