NETGEAR GS110TP-200EUS ProSAFE 8-Port Gigabit POE Smart Switch with 2 Gigabit Fibre SFP

Wow - what a great switch, without the hassle of anything associated with Cisco. This switch does link aggregation, and I had bought it to connect to a Synology Disk Station 412 - the combination works perfectly giving me huge transfer rates for streaming content to multiple devices - for the price it has amazing functionality.The hardware is fan-less, providing silent running; although it is powered by an external power adapter - the adapter is well made, and comes with a detachable 'kettle lead' allowing you to plug it into a UPS without having to do creative wiring. The case is well made and finished off, and feels like a quality piece of kit.The switch has two SFP ports on it - which I have also connected up to a second switch (of the same type) for handling IP Cameras - the PoE works perfectly too; auto detecting and supplying power where needed. Creating a VLAN trunk over a LAG to the second switch using NetGear SFP cables was very easy indeed (it took me approx 20 minutes to plan and deploy) - the LAG provides 2 Gb connectivity between the two switches providing more than enough bandwidth. I can also confirm that the spanning tree protocol on these devices works well - unlike many other higher priced switches.The switch does not have any real layer 3 capability - but the layer 2 capability it has is robust, and quite easy to configure via a web based GUI.The only real cons I have regarding the switch is the lack of security related to a basic configuration out of the box. It would have been nice if NetGear had provided the device with default SSL configuration - and local users. Out of the box the configuration is a simple password and no SSL for the management interface, which is adequate for most small deployments. Another small frustration is that the GUI is a little unpolished (the help text is a little lacking) - however, this is to be expected for a device at this price point.The switch is also connected to a SonicWall TZ105 - again this works perfectly, segregating my wi-fi traffic into VLANs for better QoS management relating to guests and local users.During the first week of use I transferred over a 2 terabytes of data through the switch, during which the device dropped 22 packets with errors (which I think was because I was unplugging stuff).I am very happy with this component, and I can't recommend Netgear equipment high enough - on the whole I find it much easier to configure and setup than Cisco, and often it has fewer firmware bugs. Netgear, unlike Cisco also provide you with access to all the documentation for the components that you own... you don't need to be a member of a special club or a re-seller.... i.e. they treat you like a proper customer!

I bought this unit to replace a Cisco 3550L PWR Switch that i had running part of my home network, with the intention of being able to take advantage of this switch's more current POE implementation.POE works great on this unit without having a noisy fan (like older cisco models) and happily powers three IP cameras and an outdoor wifi AP, however it does not work with my Cisco Aironet units (likely due to pre-standard implementation of POE). Thats a shame but not netgears faut.Otherwise it's very simple to use, with a nice and easy web config panel that actually loads quickly. There doesn't appear to be any SSH or telnet access but i've not dug deeply into it just yet.I've only down rated it one star as i feel its a little expensive for an 8 port switch, saying this i will be buying 2 more for different parts of the network.

Excellent bit of kit. I needed a small POE switch and to connect 2 gbic fibre adapters. The unit has so far performed flawlessly. I have since bought a second unit for another installation. I have used them primarily to drive IP telephones.I will use these units again in the future.

Bought this to replace a very noisy 24 port switch. No fans - excellent and runs 4 CCTV, wireless AP and hub.

Wow what a difference!!! the switch i had was like having a moped in the room this is siiiiiilent not a peep and straight from box plugged it in and bingo all running, for me admittedly only running poe cctv cameras but never had to touch it. Its not often you get a piece of kit that gives you no grief and does what you want, but this did and does and delivery was beyond belief. 10's across the board.

Great POE switch and six out of the eight ports are used with my CCTV cameras - just ensure that all of your devices fall into the Switches maximum capacity. Then again one of the eight ports could well be needed to connect to your network and if so then only seven would be available. Maybe injectors etc could be an option as this switch is expensive.Sadly the pictorial interface no longer works vis a browser due to Java updates and t not being compatible - I ave reported this on their forums, along with others, but still no resolve.

Neat and tidy little box as with most small Netgear switches. PoE works just fine with my devices - a camera and a wireless access point. In some ways, would have been nicer if there hadn't been a substantial power "brick" externally and they'd built the PSU into a slightly larger cabinet.Management interface is useful.

Ich habe jetzt schon drei von diesen Switchen im Einsatz und kann mich bis jetzt nicht beklagen. Nach einem Firmwareupdate auf den beiden älteren Geräten und einem GS108T(gleiche Firmware), läuft jetzt auch der DHCP Client für die Management IP mit allen DHCP Servern fehlerfrei.Meine FritzBox(mit Freetz) wollte ihm keine Adresse geben weil er immer seine default IP(192.168.0.239) im DHCP Request mitsendete und diese in einem anderen Netz als meine FritzBox liegt.Die beiden SFP Ports habe ich in der Firma mit HP kompatiblen GBICs getestet und sie liefen ohne Probleme.Wenn man sich an die Weboberfläche für das Managment gewöhnt hat ist der Switch für den gehobenen privaten Gebrauch mehr als ausreichend.Beruflich nutze ich ihn für kleinere Installationen, Testaufbauten(IP-Telefonie, WiFi usw.) und zur Fehleranalyse(Portmirroring).

Hallo, nachdem ich länger diverse Tests und Feedbacks gelesen habe, entschied ich mich für dieses Gerät (GS110TP) für ca. 125Euro.Folgende Eigenschaften:- Der Switch besitzt ein WebGUI, welches nach einiger Eingewöhnung nutzbar ist. Für manche Funktionen ist FLASH notwendig, geht aber auch ohne. Das Netgear eigene Smart Control Center [SCC] (zur Identifizierung des Gerätes, der IP, Durchführung des Firmwareupgrades etc.) benötigt man Adobe AIR. Der Bug, dass das Passwort in Klartext übertragen wird, soll angeblich behoben sein (per BIOS Upgrade)- Switch verbraucht ohne angeschlossene Geräte 5,0 bis 5,6 Watt (Leerlauf).- mit einer angeschlossenen POE Kamera (LEVEL ONE FCS-3101 2-Megapixel Day/Night PoE) steigt die Last um 4,2 Watt, bei Zugriff auf das Interface noch einmal um 0,4 Watt und bei Einschaltung des IR Scheinwerfers noch einmal um 0,5 Watt. Somit liegt der Verbrauch knapp 1 Watt unter der Verwendung des mitgelieferten Netzteils der Kamera- Der Switch besaß bei Auslieferung Firmware Version: V5.0.5.10 - damit funktionierte die DHCP IP Zuweisung über meinen Router problemlos. Nach Upgrade auf 5.4.2.11 (neueste Firmwareversion) funktionierte leider die DHCP Zuweisung nicht mehr (dies ist ein altes bekanntes Problem, welches bei manchen Netgear Switches bestand, und eigentlich mitte 2013 per Firmware update geschlossen wurde). Der Switch gibt sich ab diesem Zeitpunkt immer die IP 192.168.0.239 - diese IP sendet der Switch bei DHCP request als IP mit, daher gehen manche Router davon aus, dass diese IP von dem Gerät "gewünscht" wird. Somit ist keine vernünftige Nutzung mehr möglich. Ein Downgrade zu älteren Firmware Versionen schlug fehl.- Alle 8 Ports sind POE fähig, pro Port maximal 15 Watt, in Summe maximal 46 Watt, jedoch schaltet der Switch "irgendwelche Notfunktionen" um, wenn mehr als 39 Watt POE genutzt werden. Das Netzteil hat laut Angaben 48V bei 1,25A, sprich 60 Watt maximal (inkl. Wärmeverluste, Verbrauch für das Gerät).- Der Switch wird bereits mit einem POE und einem Uplink (1GB Port) und zwei weiteren aktiven 1GB Ports recht warm (bei 22°C Raumtemperatur) . Längeres berühren mit der Hand ist unangenehm - sprich: bei Vollbestückung für ausreichend Kühlung sorgen- Das Netzteil besitzt einen Kaltgeräteanschluss mit Nullleiter, das Gerät besitzt ein Kensington-Lock sowie Anschluss zur Erdung- Geschwindigkeitstest habe ich nicht durchgeführt- Es kann nicht im Rack montiert werden, es liegen Halterungen (2 Schrauben) zur Wandmontage bei, jedoch dient dafür nur eine Art Aufhängung am Boden des Switches zur Verankerung an der Wand. Dies wirkt nicht sicher, da man durch leichtes verschieben den Switch löst, und er dann herunter fallen würde. Ebenfalls liegen 4 Gummifüße bei, zur Tischentkopplung bzw. Kratzschutz.- Die QoS kann ausreichend konfiguriert werden, ebenfalls liegen bereits Voreinstellung für VoIP vor. Jedoch können nicht einzelne Ports mit Geschwindigkeitslimits festgelegt werden- der Hardware Reset per Reset-Switch geschieht folgender Maßen (nur notwendig, falls SCC das Gerät nicht mehr findet, sonst über SCC durchführbar):"1. Press and hold the “Factory default” button using a paperclip for about 15 second.2. After 15 seconds unplug the power cable while holding the “Factory default” button for another 15 seconds.3. Put the power cable back to the switch after 15 seconds and wait for another 15 seconds before you let go of the “Factory default”.4. Once you let go of the Factory default button it will automatically boot.The key here is not to let go of the factory default button until steps 3. Then observe if the problem will persist."- Es gibt die Möglichkeit, zwei Firmware auf das Gerät aufzuspielen, Slot 1 und 2; somit kann man verschiedenen Firmware ausprobieren.- Die Vergabe von VLANs ist möglich, man sollte jedoch sich an die Anleitung im Webportal auf Netgear halten (VLANs definieren, verschiedenen Ports tagen, Ein und Ausgangsdatenströme markieren und das Standard VLAN anpassen (getagte Ports herausnehmen)- also nichts für den Otto-Normalanwender (aber der benötigt das Gerät ja auch nicht).Nachdem der DHCP nicht mehr funktionierte, spielte ich etwas mit den Einstellungen herum, setzte zum Schluss die IP-Vergabe von manuel auf DHCP, von DHCP auf BOOTP, danach konnte man auf den Switch nicht mehr zugreifen, obwohl er noch problemlos den Datenstrom routete (und ich dies schreiben kann).Nach Rücksprache mit dem OnlineChat von Netgear ("I would suggest to have it replaced since we can no longer access the web interface of the switch. Can you still return it back from the store or the reseller where you got the switch from?") soll ich das Gerät zurück senden und austauschen lassen.Ich werde das Gerät zurück senden, und noch einmal testen. Sollte das DHCP Problem weiterhin bestehen, dann ist dies ein KO - Kriterium (da bei manueller IP-Vergabe das Routen nicht funktioniert, und dann z.B. der Timeserver im Switch etc. nicht funktioniert).Update (11.06.2014): Soeben habe ich ein Ersatzgerät erhalten. So genau weiß ich auch nicht, ob das Gerät defekt ist oder etwas mit den Funktionen nicht stimmt.Zusammenfassend: selbst der netgear support, der sich via netviewer bei mir aufgeschaltet hat, konnte das Problem bei mir nicht lösen.in Kürze die problematischen Themen MEINES Geräts:# netgear holt sich nicht zuverlässig die IP vom DHCP, was nervige manuelle Arbeit zur Folge hat, um auf den switch zuzugreifen# web access war ebenfalls nach kurzer zeit nicht möglich# das Windows Programm, um netgear switches zu verwalten, hat den switch ebenfalls nicht mehr gefunden (wohlgemerkt: er war an und alle Lämpchen leuchteten fröhlich)Insgesamt hat der switch 1 tag seine Dienste verrichtet, dann hat er sukzessive einen Port nach dem anderen "link down" gesetzt.Wir Ihr euch sicherlich denken könnt, habe ich alles an Reset-Varianten und Firmware-Neuaufspielungen versucht.Zum Positiven: tolle Verpackung und ein schönes Metallgehäuse.Wie geht es für mich weiter: ich glaube, dass das Gerät, welches ich habe, ein Softwareproblem hat. Daher ist Austausch bereits beauftragt. trotz meiner Unzufriedenheit (1 Stern ist noch zu viel) will ich es noch einmal mit netgear versuchen, weil ich tief im Herzen glaube, die Firma baut gute switches.Sobald der neue Switch mich liebt, werde ich hier auf 5 Sterne anheben, denn die Verpackung ist wirklich toll!
