Instead, it is a double-wall of synthetic plastic, which looks like cement and helps keep plants moist due to the air in-between the dual layers. Can be used as a low planter or as a fountain bowl (if so, the hole in the bottom will need a cork). My herbs are most happy in this pot, and the pot can take the Florida heat. My problem with this was that the post office delivered it to a completely wrong address - not even in the neighborhood so it was received a couple of days later than it should have been.
