My advice is to turn the chair on it's side (on a blanket or carpet to avoid damage), locate the washer over the hole on top of the lower part of the frame. If the washer moves whilst trying to locate the bolt fixing then have a piece of card handy to slide in-between the parts to re-allign it over the hole, you should have a clear view if the chair is on its side. move the chair from one side to the other depending on which side you are locating the fixings. Thanks for answering!** A: After the first season in the sunshine and then kept under cover during the winter months my chairs has faded although not to any great extent. I'm happy with the 2 chairs I purchased and am looking forward to removing the covers and putting to use again soon. Can anyone help? Thanks** A: Hi. Put the pieces of chair you want to connect on its side. Slide the washer over the hole on the lower piece of wood. Drop the long bolt through the hole. If you dislodge the washer, push it back with a knife so that the bolt drops through. Then push the nut up from the bottom and tighten up. The backrest is profiled very well same for the seat. They also look very stylish and posh (if you bothered with such things). With regards to assembly it's another story. Please make sure that you have some linen (or olive) oil, sanding paper, wood glue and some power tolls. I have bought two of them and both had similar issues: - poor finishing with rough surfaces that required sanding, polishing and protecting with oil - one of the side parts was partially broken (wood split that required gluing) - many holes were drilled poorly and required milling machine to fix it (then protecting with oil) - one of the threads in the nut was broken so I had to re-thread it - armrest holes are drilled a bit too far, so you need to put a lot of force and bend the wood to align them with the frame - missing screws on seat and backrest - some steps in the manual could be in different order to make assembly easier The assembly itself would be actually quite straightforward if the quality of components and drilling alignment would be better and more consistent on all parts. So if you are lucky you may not have any of the above issues at all.
