However, the pattern instructions are miserable. Patterns use non-standard abbreviations. There are no graphs, even where they would be highly useful. Photos of pieces of works in progress are included, but sometimes inserted in the wrong spot within the written directions. Materials lists are inaccurate and incomplete. The instructions include weird methods that make things way more complex than they need to be.For the experienced amigurimu-maker, you'll be able to muddle through and with a bit of trial and error, you can successfully complete the projects. However, if you are new to amigurumi this is NOT the book to start with. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful *by R***O on Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2012* I personally bought this book for the beautiful Amigurumi animals that come out here. I personally love the dragon, monkey, lion and toucan amigurumis. I am a beginner and have actually found the instructions pretty easy to follow. With a little help from the internet I figured out how the stitches are made and after a few hours of practice became adept in crochet. It did take me a few hours, since I am a beginner, to gat to start the design, but after many tries, I was able to do it. So I rate this book with a 5 for its amazingly easy to follow instructions and for the beautiful desings you can make. The only con is that I didn't find anywhere in the book the size of the hook to be used and the with of the yarn to be used. Little idea did I have that this impacted a lot in the size of the amigurumi. My first creation ended up being a small version of the dragon since I used a thin yarn and a small size hook. However, the work in progress seems to be going on well and I am happy to know that I can vary the size of my creations.
