The rail hooks easily go over the door, but I did add a thin felt cushion pad onto the door, to ensure it didn't move when opening and closing the door - it is now secure in its place. I like the fact that it extends - it extends easily, but no so easily that it can do it by itself (there is a little resistance). Product looks good. Overall, I'm pleased with it - and I'm just about to order another. Update after purchase of 2nd item: Still really pleased with my rails. Look great in my kitchen. Fit well.
