Review: Seems legit. Would buy again if needed. Easily the best value brand/size. - I have not actually used iodine before, but I think this is the real thing. It certainly put the colour back in my hair, and behaves as described in Iodine supp guides when applied to the skin. This is a very concentrated formula. I believe it works out to a total of 18.75mg per drop (No dropper provided. I do wonder if some droppers give more than others?) Which breaks down to Iodine-7.5mg per drop, and Iodide-11.25mg per drop. (I have calculated these numbers using figures quoted for lower concentrations of Lugols, found in an online, detailled PDF guide to Iodine supplementation for general health, cancer and other problems). The guide says that the breast requires iodine, and the thyroid iodide. It used to be thought that the body could convert one to the other but this is now believed to be false. Dosing: The guide says that most supplements use mcg (microgram) doses, and these are too low, even for general health maintenance. It recommends 50mg a day maintenance, and anywhere between 50 and 300mg/day for cancer (I see iodine most used for breast cancer. Unsure for others). Hashimotos (A form of auto immune hypothyroidism). Many people say you should not supplement iodine for Hashimotos (''it is like throwing fuel on the fire). However, I recently found a naturopathic doctor who has Hashimotos himself and has sucessfully treated himself and many others. He says that upon further investigation, iodine supplemtation is fine, as long as you also supplement/correct Selenium deficiencies.
