## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this product be installed directly on concrete?**
A: I installed mine directly to the concrete slab and poured a self leveling compound over the top. It works just fine. I think the larger concrete slab acts as a giant heat sink and maybe doesn’t get as warm as it might otherwise and/or takes a little longer to heat up. That said, it works great and gets plenty warm where we actually laid it... in front of the sinks and in front of the shower. If you step off that area you can tell an immediate difference and I wish we’d put down a little more than we did.

**Q: I want to install this under a granite island counter top do you think this is possible?**
A: Certainly possible, I am just not sure how well it will work thru that thickness of that stone. I have heard from others that their floor heater gets too hot to use. Mine is set to 76 and it is not hot, just very comfortable to walk on during the cold ohio weather. I have not cranked it up to the high setting which I think is 82. I would think if your granite supplier is familiar with this and say it works, I would have no hesitation that this unit could not do the job.

**Q: hi, can you set a timer for it to come on early..like an hour before you usually wake up so that its nice and toasty??**
A: Yes, it comes with a programmable thermostat and you can set different times for different days of week, and you can program twice a day - so maybe a 3 hour chunk in the morning and other chunk at night.

**Q: Will this product radiate enough heat to replace a floor heat vent ? My bathroom is about 650 sq ft**
A: The system, when properly installed, will produce slightly over 40 BTUs per sqft, which is sufficient by itself in warmer climates and in well insulated homes, especially where bathrooms have minimal outside exposure (with 1 wall or less being outside). In colder climates (where temperature frequently falls below freezing), heating requirements may be as high as 60 BTU's / sqft or more, and therefore a supplementary heat source (baseboards, radiators or forced air) may be required.
A more definite answer to your question will require heat loss data, which should've been performed when your furnace or boiler were sized. In other words, if you know your current heating equipment's BTU rating, you can calculate BTU/sqft by using this formula:
BTU/sqft = (BTU rating * Rated Efficiency)/Total SQFT
The result can be used as a reference to answer your question.
Hope this helps.
