It had started to fray on one side. I sanded it down as best I could, and then I applied this oil. Unlike some other block oils I've used, this has a silky, thin texture, and it soaked right in, immediately. Sometimes oils like this that I've used will sit on top of the wood and you have to work them in, but this just went right into the grains. The difference was immediate and amazing! I'll need to keep working on sanding down that frayed edge, but I can tell this will help me keep my kitchen tools in good shape, and it's much easier to apply than some other block conditioners I've used. In terms of smell, it has a very light citrus scent that dissipates almost immediately.
