Usually the sticks are used. I prefer loose sage, so I decided to try the flakes. Wow! This smells great: To me, it's a bit spicy + woodsy. I often burn it alone, but I do use it in a "house blend" of sage, copal, and "Pontifical" Church incense. Smells great. I use it at least once monthly to clear our home, or when I say prayers during trying times. I recommend it, and I plan to buy it again. My package arrived on time and in good condition.
