It did not solve the problem of losing the bottom at high speed. I lost it at about 10 mph and it constantly caught grass and would quit. But a simple modification that I added solved the problem that is common on these flat or semi-flat bottom boats. I keep that bottom at 25 to 30 mph in a chop and higher of relatively flat water. I have held bottom at 40 mph with it. Challenge is that the delicate adjustments required between splashing cascades of water vertically shooting upward from the transom no readings at all are very slight. It doesn't take mush to look at the mount to know you will have to fiddle with it. It has no lock in click adjustment. Reach your hand in the water and loosen bolts underwater with a pair of wrenches and shift position... how far? How good is you sense of feel? I bought it and for the money there is nothing better and now I get a reading while on the run when before I didn't.
