Cooking smells inside the house and hand sanitizer can give inaccurate readings. Also smoke outside in California has a high formaldehyde content. **Q: Will this tell me how bad the air is in a house that had smokers living there?** A: Meter will give you a basic air quality index and the amount of particles in the air currently. As to the smoking issues, not sure. My nose has always been the best on knowing that. I can't stand smoke smell and notice it right away. **Q: Is this reliable for air sampling for mold particles?** A: No, it is not. For mold you'll probably need the ERMI test. However, if you see mold, you don't need any test. **Q: Is this item able to measure Asian dust/fine dust as well as formaldehyde?** A: It is able to measure Asian air quality as well as formaldehyde. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great personal air quality meter - measures particulate matter (smoke) and also formaldehyde. *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2018* We used this monitor to track air quality in our apartment in SAn Francisco during the recent Camp fire events. It proved to be very accurate and matched the outdoor readings published by the local authorities very closely. This accuracy let us track the air quality indoors with a lot of confidence. We selected the model with the additional formaldehyde monitoring capability (the lower cost models measure particulate -smoke- matter only) and got a real surprise with the high formaldehyde emissions from a couple of pieces of flat pack furniture. I'm a home inspector and wanted to add air quality check for my clients. This device provides PM2.5, PM10, number of particles (per/L), formaldehyde levels, temperature, humidity, and air quality index. That's a lot for the small price. The color screen is great as well and shows in photos that I take for the clients. My only complaint is that the unit did come with a sticker on the screen that was difficult to remove and clean off the residue.
