## Description

Chef Chloe Coscarelli has revolutionized how vegans cook and eat with exciting, plant-based recipes that are fun, full of flavor, and make you feel healthier. When she decided to become a vegan chef, she dreamed of changing the way the world ate. This was in the “pre-kale” days, when veggie burgers were frozen, tasteless patties loathed by the general public and if a vegan wanted to eat, well, then she had to cook! Today, corner stores stock their shelves with almond milk and mainstream restaurants pepper their menus with quinoa, tempeh, chia seeds, faro, ramps, and so many variations of avocado toast. There is truly no better time to love to eat than now—and no easier time to be a vegan. Chloe believes the most delicious dishes come from plant-based ingredients, and has debunked the myth that vegan cooking is bland and visually unenticing. Enter: CHLOE FLAVOR . Every recipe here is bold in taste, loud in color, unabashedly unique, and, above all, easy to make. With dishes like Smoky Grits & Greens, Mango-Guacamole Crunch Burgers, and Sea Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookies, this food is for fun, friends, and family—and it’s all about the flavor. Vegans will delight in Chloe’s creations and carnivores won’t miss the meat one bit. First breaking onto the culinary scene as the only vegan chef to capture the top prize on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, Chef Chloe Coscarelli has since been recognized for bringing vegan cuisine to the mainstream as an award-winning chef, successful entrepreneur, and bestselling cookbook author. She has published three bestselling cookbooks, and in 2015 she opened her first restaurant, by CHLOE., bringing healthy and satisfying vegan and plant-based dishes to the masses. She lives in New York City.

Review: Highly Recommend (with some qualifications) - Easy, cheap, accessible, satisfying vegan food - Chloe is one of my favorite cookbook authors, and I think this book is another win! I've already convinced friends and family members to buy it, too, and they all love it as much as I do. The recipes are hearty, filling, satisfying and accessible, even for non-vegans like me, my boyfriend, and everyone else I know who has bought the book. Chloe always surprises me because she manages to write recipes that use very common, basic ingredients and combine them in a way that is full of flavor. Here is what I've tried so far: Almond Butter Berry Bowl: A super simple smoothie bowl, but really delicious and easy to make. I've made this about every other day for the last three weeks or so. Cinnamon Roll Pancakes: Love these. I make Chloe's pancakes from other books all the time, because you can make a meal when your fridge is empty. But these step it up a level and give you cinnamon roll flavor without all the work. The cinnamon swirl is buttery and crisps up as they cook. So delicious Chipotle Sweet Potato-Kale Soup: This is spicy, sweet, and satisfying. It also uses basic, cheap ingredients, mostly pantry staples. I really liked it. Peanut Kale Crunch Salad: I love tempeh, I loved this dressing, and I loved this salad. Just a whole lot of good stuff coming together to make for a salad that I actually look forward to (and I'm not a salad person). Sloppy Chlo's: Loved these. Dead easy, so filling, cheap to make, and yummy. 5-Ingredient Kale Pesto Pasta: Again, very few ingredients, inexpensive to make, and the ingredients somehow come together to be more than the sum of their parts. Really good. General Tso's Tofu: Please make this and then serve it over steamed broccoli as she suggests. It is the perfect comfort food. Panang Curry: Okay, I know I've been effusive so far, but this is my favorite by far. Again, it's mostly just pantry ingredients, but it is so so satisfying (I keep coming back to this word, but it describes everything so well). This recipe is already beloved by me, my boyfriend, my sister, and my brother-in-law and none of us are vegans. My boyfriend thinks this is one of the best things I've ever made (and I cook a lot). Thai Red Curry Bowl: This one was pretty good. I liked it at the beginning when I first made it, but I'm not a big fan of tofu that's not crispy, and I couldn't find bamboo shoots so I just left them out. So it was good, but I guess not outstanding. Oatmeal Smoothie: Okay this was WAYYY too sweet. But when I cut it down to two dates I really liked it. That's all I have made so far, but I have many more earmarked. I clearly love all these recipes, and I definitely recommend buying this book, but there are some things to take into consideration that might make it a deal breaker for you. First, Chloe likes to make things sweet, even savory thing. She freely admits this. So she is occasionally pretty heavy-handed with sugar. This is not health-nut vegan food. It's yummy, comfort vegan food (i.e. high in sugar and pretty caloric at times). If that's something you're concerned about, just take that into account. Second, she does repeat a few recipes in here from her previous books/website, or just makes very slight alterations on older recipes, e.g. her rosemary lemonade is just her basil lemonade but with rosemary, and she repeats he vanilla cake recipe that's in every book. I think this book is worth it for the non-repeats, but you may think different. That being said, I think vegan books sometimes struggle with providing full, balanced meals, and this book is jam-packed with entrees, which I love. I highly recommend this book.
Review: Amazing cookbook even for those with limited cooking skills! - Chloe is a very talented chef and everything is always so delicious. I’ve purchased all of Chloe’s cookbooks and I pre-ordered this book as soon as it was announced. When it arrived I quickly went through it and planned out which one of the recipes I would try first. I’m not very good at cooking, and I’m always pleased to find that Chloe’s recipes are always easy to understand and easy to follow. The book arrived and I was pleased to find that it was a beautiful hardcover. I prefer hardcover cookbooks because they are easier to keep open while I’m cooking something. The best test of a cookbook is how well the recipes turn out. In that sense, this book is amazing. In the short amount of time that I’ve owned the book, I’ve now made four different foods using Chloe’s recipes. I’ve found all the ingredients easy to find and simple to prepare, even with my limited cooking skills. I prefer recipes that don’t take too long to prepare since I’m usually very busy with work and sometimes just find myself slicing up raw tofu and eating it. But I had some friends coming over and I couldn’t feed them raw tofu. So I cooked up some of the Burnt Garlic Un-Fried Rice, some 5-Ingredient Kale Pesto Pasta, and some of the Butternut Mac. For dessert, I made the Sea Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookies. They were all big hits! My guests said they never knew I was such a great chef. Little did they know I had a celebrity chef help me with all the recipes. Thank you, Chloe, for making me look so good! I highly recommend this book and encourage everyone to pick up a copy.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best vegan cookbook!
*by C***. on April 30, 2021*

Have been meat free for 27 years, but always teeter tottered between pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan due to uninspiring or overly complicated vegan options. You won't believe you're eating vegan! The recipes don't require a ton of ingredients, but are chalk full of flavor! I especially loves the ones with sauce (hence the name!) like the thai tofu stay, and peanut kale crunch salad - I make these dishes and their peanut-based sauces at least once a week, with a side of gluten free brown rice and grill some veggies. Voila! Complete, and delicious! I love that she has gluten free suggestions for pretty much every recipe too. We've been cooking a lot at home (who isn't since the pandemic, ha!) but we've also tried some of the recipes using chicken for my omnivore partner, such as the above, and the seitan and broccoli, and he liked them too. He has also eaten and enjoyed tons of the vegan recipes as is with me. If you're "new" to vegan, or in a rut with other cookbooks/recipes, this is for you. It will awaken your tastebuds, and inspire you in the kitchen. I suddenly love my grocery store outings, and look forward to making lists of what to get for a new recipe or making a new dish with whatever I have in the kitchen using her helpful index.
