This is what I think a book about genealogy should be.  It includes of course the basic family trees, but also stories about select people's lives, and descriptions of the times and areas the people lived in.  Very useful and entertaining.

Several years ago there was an edition that had pictures of the family. I should have bought it at the time as I haven’t been able to find it. So I am disappointed in the book because of that. However I have found the information on my Updike line. So it has been helpful in that way.I would recommend it
