My husband had been slipping all over the place on the frozen river, trying to clear ice away from the pier pilings, but the day these arrived he tried then out there and was able to do the job securely. He even went walking further away from shore on the ice surface with confidence! Great product! He did not need the strap, they were pretty tight on his snow boots (the leather lace-up kind) without it. I got the XL size for his size 12 boots, SO glad he is much safer out there with these on!

Wearing these cleats I was able to clean up fallen branches, cross the street to check on the neighbors, etc. No way would I have attempted that without some kind of traction aid (I'm 70 and don't need any more broken bones). They seem pretty durable, and fit securely on my hiking boots - never tried to come off. If they start to fail I'll update this review. For now I give five stars.

These ice cleats work so well!
