Review: It came with protective film, it handled well as checked luggage. - When my luggage arrived it came with what looked like scuff marks and scratches but I noticed in 3 different places the stickers that say "tear off the protective film here!". I decided to leave the film since I was traveling the next day. It did great going through 4 airports as checked luggage, I had very tight flight connections. I removed the film today and it showed a crisp, shiny, smooth surface. It is much lighter than my regular soft spinner luggage and I was able to pack a lot. I love the zippered part, made it easy to take things in and out and I was able to put lots of stuff in there too. Cons:, it looks and feels more bulky than a regular soft suitcase so when picking it up with the side or top handles it is imbalanced especially when fully packed and expanded; trying to lock it is a little tricky because where the lock is, is made of what feels like softer material than the rest so it gives in when pressed to lock; it is hard to avoid not rubbing your arms on the wheels when unzipping the main compartment so be careful when your wheels are not clean. I will not find out how well the scratch free surface is until after my next trip now that the film is removed. This suitcase is much lighter and it seems like I was able to pack more items in than the regular soft spinner I have. I kept it unlocked during the flights because I don't trust that the TSA will not break it although they are supposed to be able to unlock it if they want to. I don't know yet how well the wheels will handle rough surfaces, I won't find out until I go to Europe and Asia this year where there are cobblestones and rough streets. I like the idea of locking it in hotels and not have to carry a key. The different inside zippered compartments and the lining are very nice. In spite of the minor cons I still feel that overall it is worth the money and I feel confident that it is sturdy enough to handle the many travels I take every year. I ordered this set of luggage for my daughter who was moving overseas. I had purchased a different set previously from a department store and when it arrived we were taken aback at how huge the luggage was and how heavy. I returned that set and searched desertcart for something that was a better size and weight. Was so happy when I came upon this set. It is really lovely (and was very easy for my daughter to find her luggage on the turnstile at the airport!) and very well made. Lightweight and the spinner wheels work great. She was able to pack a lot into the 3 cases. The have some expandability. Really pretty luggage and the hard sides make it extra durable. Please dont respond "light" what is the actual weight** A: My apologies, I don’t actually know. These were a gift I gave to someone else but I can tell you I bought 2 other sets (diff designs) & these are not that great. I wouldn’t recommend them. I would measure weight for you if I didn’t return them. They sent me a return label for 9lbs but when I took to post office all three were 23lbs & some change including weight of box they were in. Hope that gives you some idea. They are cute but after just one use the latch is broken on one and the outside protective layer is peeling on both of the ones I used ( butterfly design). Customer service wanted pics/then told me they don’t offer refunds or exchanges as they only sell by the set. I insisted refund if they would not exchange and they insisted I mail back whole set, but still only refunded a 1/3 of what I paid. I also don’t care for the inside design. Everything falls out if you don’t open properly to one side. Good luck. I have yet to call Amazon customer service to handle this for a full refund. **Q: Are there zipper pockets inside the luggage? Any waterproof pockets?** A: The 3 suitcases have a large pocket, that is half the suitcase can be zippered up. There is NO OTHER pockets. I really don't know what waterproof pockets are but these suitcases have nothing else but the ONE zipper that separates one side of the bag from the other. Hope this helps.
