Review: Best home BP monitor on the market - I am a physician and have been using these monitors for 15 years. They are high quality and very accurate. I periodically check mine against a mercury sphygmomanometer and it is always within 2-3 mmHg. The mercury sphygmomanometer is the standard by which all BP monitors should be checked. When checked against a mercury sphyg, it is more accurate and reproducible than the electronic cuffs used by the hospital. The cuff is particularly easy to apply one handed. These monitors seems to remain accurate for 6 to 8 years before they need to be replaced. I am still on my second one, with a third in reserve for when this one gives out. I highly recommend this BP monitor.

**Q: Can you get a flexible 9 -17" cuff?**
A: I'm sorry, but I can't imagine why you would want to do that. This monitor is clearly advertised as having a pre-formed cuff. If you don't want that, just select another model. There is far better selection of those with flexible cuffs than the ones like this with a pre-formed cuff.

**Q: Is such a machine available that runs on batteries or AC?**
A: This machine does run on batteries.  Most of them do

**Q: What do you mean by "pre-formed" cuff?  In the picture, it appears to unroll.  Clarification, please.  Thank you.**
A: Definition of a pre-formed cuff - The pre-formed cuff was designed specifically to the contour of the arm. It is supposed to make it easy for individuals to simply place the cuff on knowing it will securely take their blood pressure measurement. It ensures the brachial artery is compressed for an accurate reading.

My previous two sphygmomanometers, made by Welsch Allyn, both failed after several years usage. A&D Medical sphygmomanometer works fine. The A&D machine has a preformed cuff which I wasn't used to. The new cuff is positioned higher on my arm than my previous cuffs.
