I made my swing set with 12’ legs instead of 8’ which is longer than the recommended length. It’s stable, but has some movement from side to side as we swing. I’m sure the extended length adds to that a little bit. Due to the side to side movement, I have installed two 30” long metal braces on each end of the A-frame from the beam to the legs. This made it solid as a rock and stopped all the movement. I would absolutely recommend these brackets! I also did a lot of shopping to find that these were the best value on the market. I did put composite shims where there was a gap then bolted down. Also I purchased next size up on lag bolts. The lag bolts that come with product look weak and one of them broke on me. I used 8ft 4x4 for my little ones, if you have a 7yr + I’d go 10 ft.
