The BabyWearing lightweight raincover is rain-proof and wind-proof. The fabric is very lightweight like a rain mac so yes it does provide shade. It gives the same level of sun protection as a rain mac (although as it isn't officially a sun product, so we haven't had it UV tested). There is a fleece lined version too. **Q: Is it suitable for heavy rain?** A: I've worn it when caught in heavy showers and it's worked well to get home keeping baby dry. It's like a light raincoat fabric not a heavy waterproof so I don't think it would be great for long periods of heavy rain. **Q: Does it work on carriers where your baby is facing outward?** A: Yes.
