Silent is important so you're not transmitting noise down your fishing line into the water. Reel was a little smaller than I expected for a 2500 series reel; it looks a little undersized on my 7'-6" rod, but it definitely does the trick I spooled it up with 10 lb. braid and it will land about anything I've caught so far. Price was definitely reasonable for a reel of this quality.
