If so, how?** A: During the assembly line they are on the “sharpener” for the same amount of time. It was on an episode of “How It’s Made”. **Q: What country are they made in?** A: Made for Amazon so probably Amazonia. **Q: Are these pencils comparable to the ticonderoga pencils? Eraser and all?** A: As a basic pencil, it is okay. Comparing it to Dixon Ticonderogas, no way! Also speaking as a teacher, students very easily pop these erasers completely out of the metal ring. That just does not happen with the Ticonderogas. With no eraser, the pencil either goes in the junk tray, or you must revive it by putting a pencil top eraser on it. However, with just an empty metal ring, eraser toppers rip quickly. I would rather go to a dollar store and get 24 cheaper pencils for a buck or $1.25 than use these Amazon ones. I rate 3/5 stars. They are solid wood, and the graphite inside is fine, but the erasers suck, and the presharpened lead points are not even good points. Much like a golf pencil point. **Q: are the erasers latex free?** A: The description says they are latex-free.
