I use this text as a study guide. Tibetan buddhism is complex and lineage based, yet this straight forward translation seems to suceed in cutting through to the root that they all share.

This is an extremely important translation for our time. It is a joy to read these stories that are so rich with the interactions of Milarepa maturing his students. The songs of realization are full of blessing for everyone, and particularly  practitioners approaching the system of mamahudra meditation. The translator, Chris Stagg is not only extremely skilled linguistically, musically, and as a story teller but is also a dedicated practitioner who has been working very diligently not only in study but also in meditation. Finally this particular translation has had amazing support and contribution from our modern day lineage masters and it is felt deeply when leaping into its stories and songs.
