Women carry the gene and pass it on to their children if we would have had girls the mutated gene would be passed on and our girls would not have been affected but when they had children and they where boys my grandsons would be affected this is why this disorder is so insidious it skips generations. It is the most common form of male metal retardation. I met her on a trip to Denver with my son, also affected by FXS, and was impressed by her. All of that comes through in the firm grasp of the facts in her book. It's hard to describe this life to someone who hasn't been there, and Jayne does a remarkable job. I find her work to be professional and compassionate.
