The tongs are strong enough but definitely not overbuilt. I purchased the model for the #10 crucible. This tool allows for safe lifting where trying to lift crucibles with tongs is definitely hazardous. Dropping 20 pounds of crucible/molten brass would be a disaster.Tool 2 is a tong for pouring brass out of the crucible into molds. So far I have not used this as I have a much more robust tool I made.
