No padding on the crossbody strap, so I bought a set of 2 removable strap pads from desertcart (advertised for backpacks and guitar straps) and put one on the crossbody strap. I used my smallest compression cube to fit a sweater and rain jacket in the Vale, which made it heavy, so in addition to wearing it crossbody, I would sometimes give that shoulder a rest by using the short strap on my other shoulder at the same time. The small red clasp that secures the main zipper was a little bit hard to open, so I used a small Nite Ize hook to connect it to the zipper. One of the photos shows the Soliel (left), the Vale, and the Geo (right) for size comparison. I loved the Soleil but it looked overwhelmingly huge on me when full, so I returned it. Kept the Geo to use as an everyday bag. I love that I can do exactly that. The large middle pocket fits magazines and snacks, hairbrush, everything I need for travel - the inside zipper pocket works perfectly for my wallet during travel when I'm getting stuff out on the plane - 1 of the outer pockets had my travel ID which I kept zipped and next to my body, the other outside pocket had everything else including motion sick pills, hand sanitizer and lip balm. When I got to my destination I took all the big stuff out of the middle pocket, put the long strap in the bottom of the bag, and had a stylish handbag without having to bring an extra bag in my suitcase. The large pocket carried most of what I need but was pretty empty and stylish folded over and zipped up - nice clean lines and not floppy even folded over - until I stopped at the store and was able to put the long strap back on fill the purse with my purchases and not have a separate shopping bag! I love that the outside pockets are big enough to carry keys and essentials in one pocket I keep zipped, and there is yet another easily accessed outer pocket that fits a small water bottle. I am extremely happy with this purse - especially knowing that it has security features that give me peace of mind when I'm traveling. FYI the smaller outside pockets actually are big enough to carry a small handgun though I have not yet put velcro in it for a travel holster, but probably will do so - no worry about printing because of the thickness and drape of the material. And I was glad to find there was no problem getting through airport security xray even though the purse is slash resistant.
