Ie- does the water inside touch stainless steel?** A: the interior is all ceramic but you can see the heating element, which is located on the back side by the heater. **Q: Is there any plastic that comes in contact with the water?** A: Actually yes. Technically, it is some sort of rubber seal. Between ceramic body and stainless steel heat element, there is very tight gap that has to be sealed by rubber gasket. The contact is very minimum. I just found this after using it for over 4 years. **Q: Does the glaze contain cadmium or lead?** A: By law, to sell in the USA it can't have lead in it, nevertheless it is made in China and Chinese factories have cut corners and sold countless items for animals and humans in the U.S. and Europe that had lead and other poisons in them.
