I have a serious neck problem and I'm not sure if the 4.5 will be big enough depending on how soft** A: They are fairly rigid but with some give. I have neck issues, too and I ordered the 3" . It's perfect for just under the neck to keep it from collapsing. If you're looking for a neck pillow to fit just under the neck, I recommend the 3". It's definitely not too soft, just firm enough to support without being uncomfortable. This is a really nice, well-made pillow. **Q: How do I know what pillow size is best for me to get without trying it first? What's the difference between the sizes?** A: Start with the small one and leave the plastic on the pillow so you could return it. Live on it for 5 minutes on a flat surface w/o another pillow. If it gives you a nice, comfortable support in you neck, it's OK. If you don't feel much support, exchange it for the 4.5". Doubtful you would need any more than this unless you are a very large person. Good luck. **Q: How does this pillow case close? Thank you.** A: There is a zipper along the pillowcase **Q: Does this flattens easily?** A: Yes just like a memory foam flattens to your curve.
