If it worked i'd be content, but it actually seems to work very well and functioning like something much more expensive. It's a smooth running reel with nice feel to it. the drag seems smooth but I have not had it long enough to really push it or the claimed drag ratings. I have not taken it apart to see how much grease was used, but I expect it's not too bad from what I can see taking off the handle. This is the cheap style handle with a screw on the opposite side to hold it and and allow changing sides. Its not the nice screw in style like the Honor series reels. That's not really an issue, but for salt water it's another non-sealed hole into the gearbox.I needed a reel for surf fishing. There is no free lunch out there when it comes to salt water gear. Its $120 for anything beginning to resemble sealed, but this one should be a great value with the help of simple maintenance. Which blew away my expectations it’s quality and price point you can’t beat. This is my second spinning reel model from the amazing people at Piscifun and I’m a firm believer that these spinning reels are absolutely amazing and get the job done with what ever type of fishing you be doing. From ice fishing, fresh water finesse, panfishing , creek fishing ,salt water fishing, and many more the Venom may sound poisonous but handles all with great ease with 11 ball bearings (including roller bearing) 5:1:1 gear ratio and a 17.6 lbs drag this spinning reel does it all! Very light weight and with a collapsible reel handle with adjustment it’s great for storing in backpacks or duffle bags for packing into your favorite fishing spot and in matter of seconds of tightening the handle cap you are ready to cast away with the price point on this durable spinning reel you can’t go wrong with this purchase! I bought the 1000 series for a light set up and the first time I went out and used it I was able to land a 4.46lb largemouth bass! My PB so far!
