They were flat net with an edge & I never made a canvas backing. They were rugs in my younger bedroom.I had mostly horse designs & used one for a science project. My science teacher was impressed with the hours spent on my project & also made a ceramic horse at a local shop. My teacher asked to have the latch hook rug as a gift.
